Welcome to SlikShots Photography. My name is Deana Stewart. I reside in Shawnee, OK with my loving husband, Ronnie, of 28 years. We have two very handsome sons. Colton, who is a senior at ECU in Ada and Lane, who is a 2015 Prague HS graduate and has been accepted into the High Voltage Lineman course at OSU IT in Okmulgee.
My love for photography started years ago, after the birth of my sons. I can't remember ever not having a camera with me, always making sure I had pictures of every occasion. I would pull into the Shawnee Color Lab drive thru with multiple rolls of 35mm film to be developed almost every week. The employees always knew me and knew exactly what I wanted. While the rest of the world was going digital, I refused. I continued to use the 35mm, even though I would always pay for a few pictures that weren't very good. Most were great, but others might be too dark, too light, or I had just missed the moment completely. Expensive? Yes. But a great learning tool. I studied these pictures and learned from my own mistakes.
I finally broke down and joined the digital craze. I was able to show my work to more people, people who told me I had a gift and needed to use it. I didn't know anything about a gift, I just knew I loved taking pictures.
My boys were growing up and starting to playing ball. What could be better than doing the two things I love, sports and photography? I found myself always trying to get that perfect shot. That one of a kind photo that no one else had. It became a challenge for me every game. Afterwards, the other boys and their parents would sometimes ask me if I got any good ones of them. Everyone enjoys a great action shot! And so, that is how I decided to focus on sports/action shots.
God has given me a passion and a gift for telling life's stories through pictures. I can only hope that you enjoy them as much as I enjoy taking them. From rolling that great double-play, to catching that awesome pass in the end zone, here's to making great memories for everyone to hold on to.
